We are Cantina Mauro Sebaste, a family Piedmont winery which has been producing Barolo and typical Langhe wines for three generations. The winery was born from the strong passion of Mauro Sebaste, the son of Sylla, who in the 1960s was one of the first women producing wine, known as the Dama di Langa. From his mother, Mauro inherited the philosophy of wine as a project and respect for the characteristics of the territory. After Syllas untimely death, Mauro left the family business and founded a new company, with the help of his wife Maria Teresa and his in-laws first and now his daughters Sylla and Angelica.
His project starts from the slow and meticulous search for vineyards: each one must possess the best characteristics of composition, location and exposure so that the wine produced has the style and typicality sought after. Following this philosophy we have recently acquired land in the Vinchio area, the cradle of Barbera, from which we produce our Nizza Costemonghisio. Overall, our land area is about 30 hectares located on the hills of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, from which we produce an average of 120,000 bottles.
Our quest for uncompromising quality continues in the cellar where, thanks to the use of the best winemaking technologies, we strive to produce typical, classic and precise wines with a fresh, well-defined fruit that accompanies elegant tannins. The ageing of our wines is carried out in the traditional way to best support the typical characteristics of the vineyard and grape variety. Large 15-hectolitre barrels and 400-litre French oak tonneaux are our choice. Our work depends almost entirely on the environment, which is why we consider it essential to try to preserve it through the use of renewable energy, the safeguarding of water resources and the reduction of the environmental impact of our work both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
