Since 1907 Territory and Vineyard as soul of the Raisin and Guarantee of Quality of the Wine. For more than a century, we have been cultivating and selecting our grapes with passion and skill to preserve the very essence of the grape and give rise to wines of excellence, with strong personality and expressive power. The adventure in the world of wine began in the early years of the last century with the purchase of the Cascina Cremosina and the vineyards around the Nizza winery: Barbera dAsti was the protagonist. Later came the vineyards of Langa, the expansion of the Barbera favoured and the prestigious domains dedicated to Moscato, Brachetto, Ruchè and Grignolino. Today, Bersano can boast a winemaking heritage of more than 230 hectares in the best terroirs of Piedmont, core areas of the Unesco Heritage Monferrato and Langa, where quality grapes are produced in full respect of ethics and tradition.
Almost a century has passed since Arturo, the founder, associated the name Bersano with three large Piedmont grape varieties: Barbera, Nebbiolo and Brachetto. Since then, winemaking techniques have been refined, equipment ensures increasingly sophisticated controls, but the modes and times of winemaking have not changed.
From the soft crushing of the grapes to fermentation, up to maturation and refinement, every operation is carried out in full respect of tradition, with special attention reserved for the wood for ageing, a true heritage of the company. Our imposing cellars house large barrels of Slavonian oak, a rare and precious essence, and French Allier oak tonneaux that, thanks to the constant temperature and humidity, guarantee the wine optimal conditions for refining and ageing.
In 1985, Ugo Massimelli and Biagio Soave, business partners and lifelong friends, came to the bar of the House. Today, after having consolidated the imposing farmstead reality that constitutes the companys true heritage, they are assisted by Federica Massimelli and Corrado Soave, the second generation at the helm of the House.
